One thing I really love about quilting is it's scope.... to challenge, delight, inspire and encourage - that's how I got into stencilling, and I haven't looked back.
If you'd like to try something new and you're in Melbourne next month, why not come along to the AQC - Australian Quilters Convention? I'm a tutor this year and my workshop will be exploring stencilling.
This wall hanging, Not Quite Shabby Chic is one of my favourite workshop quilts to teach - its so adaptable, just a switch of colours can change the whole feeling, the stencil roses bouquet in the centre is a really rewarding (and straight forward) piece to stencil.
If you have'nt tried stencilling yet, you're missing out!

Click the AQC button on the left hand side of this blog for more info!

This is gorgeous! I never thought of stencilling and quilting in one project. I'm reading your blog for a while now (I'm making the red delicious and just finished the third block) and I'm amazed every time I come back and see your latest project. The red pillow is also very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo you use ordinary fabric paint or some totally different? I envy quilters who can do one of your workshops, I'm over the pond alas in the Netherlands, so I only can read :(
Thanks for sharing all your creativity!
Kind regards,
Mac (The Netherlands)
Years ago I stenciled on my walls, cabinets, stair risers and pretty much any thing that did not move.........never a quilt though, this is definitely on this year's to do list.
ReplyDeleteAll of yours are stunning thanks for the constant inspiration.
I had the same question as Mac. What do you use for paint?
ReplyDeleteI even went to the quilt show site where you are teaching to see if I could find a supply list so I wouldnt have to bother you with asking.
I enjoy your blog too. I am also doing your Red Delicious quilt.
