This is a picture of an Australia Post Van. It plays a somewhat important role in my day to day routine. Especially lately. You see, I've been looking out the window for it... spending the morning wondering about it....reaching the afternoon realising it wont be coming (again) and just generally being on the look out.
Why?
Because on the 27th of November 2011, Hanock's of Paducah sent a rather exciting parcel my way - a package full of new fabric purchased especially for the new Mystery BOM 2012. The fabric had to be new, it had to be special and it had to be available for any BOM Quilter who might happen to want to buy the same fabric range as I used.
So what's going on? It's not here yet! Yes I've made all the right calls and done all the right things and Australia Post is as unreliable and tardy as ever. I am not surprised that they have managed to not deliver my parcel. I've been informed that they are hearing this alot from Australian buyers. Interestingly, a parcel was sent out on Jan 04 2012 and arrived just fine this week. But it was only batting.
So now I have a dilemma. Do I wait? how much longer can I wait? The pattern is finished, the tester is done (and yes, it's beautiful), now I'm ready to jump in with the New Mystery BOM...which I love and which I happen to feel needs exactly the fabric I purchased. I am feeling like I will have to now buy another range...but have not been able to face that thought... until today. Now I am pressed with a deadline and a fabric crossroads.
For those of you who will be taking part in the Mystery BOM starting FEB 15th, I will be showing my full chosen pallette along with what fabric combinations will be paired together so that you can make a choice regarding your own selection of fabric for this BOM.
The only question now is, will it be my original colour scheme
or a whole new one
?
I am in Melbourne and had a package arrive from Hancocks on Friday that was posted on the 21st November so there is still hope for yours! I suspect they send their inernational packages as a bulk lot via Europe as the postage is cheaper, except if you buy batting as it is too bulky and it goes via courier and gets here super quick (my package from early Jan that contained batting arrived last week too!).
ReplyDeleteHello Esther,
ReplyDeleteI´ll keep my fingers crossed for you and the fabrics! :o)
Good luck Esther and I hope your package arrives on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the new BOM hopefully I will use up more of my stash ;) I have so much fabric I need to use it up. Hope your parcel arrives soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry the post is giving you stress, a very frustrating situation indeed.
ReplyDeleteI hope it all works out the way you would like and I look forward to seeing the BOM.
Have a great day,
Always, Queenie
The Canadian Post is not much better.
ReplyDeleteMy Friend is still waiting on a Package from September/October. They can't blame the holidays on it when the package was shipped before they started. Hope it arrives SOON!
Oh, Esther, how awful! I know that horrible feeling of waiting and wondering if it will ever arrive, or if you have blown all that money. Although I've generally found that it arrives the day after I have completely given up on it ever arriving.
ReplyDeleteEsther, how frustrating! I hope it arrives soon and in excellent condition. I have heard that international post can sometimes be tricky but I had no idea it could be so awful.
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily think its Australia's post issue. I also had an order from Hancocks that took nearly 2 months to get here and in the same time I made 2 different orders from FatQuarter Quilters and these took less than 2 weeks to arrive... good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh Esther my heart sank when I read your blog today????? This is really taking the cream of the cake for you. We all need to be very positive for you and hope it arrives this week???? Hugs Glenda
ReplyDeleteHi Esther, so sorry your fabric hasn't arrived yet. I would say wait for the fabric, if this is the perfect one for your new BOM. We'll just have to be patient a little longer!
ReplyDeleteIf we could vote, I would vote that the BOM start after your fabric arrives. I don't mind waiting and you should be able to present your creation as you see it.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. I have waited up to 4 weeks for packages from Hancocks. It will come.
ReplyDeleteEsther, it's annoying I know - but like some of the others posting here I have always had a problem with large parcels coming from Hancock's - have never been lost, but especially if I've ordered when they have free posting the parcels have always come via Europe and one lot arrived in a 'chafe' bag from Switzerland! Smaller parcels from them have always only ever taken a fortnight or so. I would wait a tad longer.
