WOW: Back and Getting Better

WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays

I'm back in Melbourne and finally feeling and getting better

Last week I was on a roadtrip up to Brisbane to see the V&A Quilt Exhibition for quilts from the 1700's. After seeing the exhibition I was in a restaurant with my DH when I slipped on wet soapy tiles. I fell backwards and somehow twisted my knee and badly bruised both my wrists. I was taken to hospital by ambulance and that was our mini break dramatically and suddenly over!

Thankfully I didn't break anything and I'm currently resting, wearing a leg brace, hobbling around on crutches and waiting for the swelling to go down.

I have so much going on at the moment that it's an especially inconvenient time to be unable to sew or sit for more than 30 minutes at a time. And, on top of everything else, I still don't have my fabric yet! I know this is really a minor thing but I can't believe I'm going to be the last person to make my own BOM block!
I'm so eager to get started but then I have to remember what I tell everyone else: it's not a race and applique can't be hurried along. So I'll take my own advice.

What's Your WOW ?

  2. Oh, Esther, how awful for you. It must be all very frustrating, despite your own advice!
    The only good thing I can see is that it happened after the exhibition, and not before!
    I do hope you will have your fabric soon.....

  7. Oh Ester, I am so sorry to read about your fall. I know after my fall last year that one moment can so drastically change your life. I am so glad you didn't break anything, but soft tissue damage can take a long time to heal. Take care and hopefully see you at Jeff's shed next week.

  12. Good thoughts for a speedy recovery. I hope you are able to get the swelling to go down. I have to say that I have enjoyed looking at all the pictures online. This is quite a community of quilters from around the world. Thanks for the fun & enthusiasm you have given lots of us who LOVE to applique. Thanks for allowing me to join your yahoo group and be part of this great sew-a-long. I wonder if the original quilter was able to be with others when she created this wonder????

  17. Oh Esther, I hope everything will be fine in a short notice of time. But I feel sorry for your mini vacation with your DH. Hope you don't have to much pain.

    Take time to get wel completely. Better to have a longer recovery than have started to soon and don't feel well for a longer time.

    Hope you understand what I try to say. I only had english on school and that is a long time ago...*Ü*...

    Nice greetings, getting better real soon and thanx for sharing this lovely pattern,
