WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays
Well, I’ve been meaning to stitch up a few garments for
about 6 months now. I just never seem to find the time, or momentarily forget
or get swept up in the excitement of something new, like a BOM or two or three. So I decided to warm up
with a little project and finally finishing my stripe sweater which has been
waiting for its little makeover.
A few months ago I selected newspaper print
cotton and even cut it out. So all I had to do was sew it in. Sounds easy
enough?
so I sewed in my new collar, and when I finished, I stopped to admire my work
and there it was...can you see it?
GARBAGE!
I knew it was newspaper print, but I didn’t see that writing
when I cut it out and I couldn’t have positioned so skilfully if I’d wanted it
there. Which I don’t.
What do you think? Is it still wearable?
My DD's say 'no way' but I say ' 2 hours work'
What's Your WOW ?
never seen such fabric, its wonderful and I love what you did with it !!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in it.
Oh I love it, wear it when you are frustrated about something, you are making a statement Not that that you are garbage Oh I laughed and laughed, it is a beautiful picture of you and the shirt, think of the fun wearing it to a retreat or guild. LOL Glenda
ReplyDeleteI think it's great! Did you also happen to notice..."Garbage...FOR ALL?" :)))Makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteIs that an insert or a dickey? I'd like to see how you did it. I'd wear it -nice job!
ReplyDeleteOh Esther - Thank you sooo very much for the belly laugh! I saw it right away and think it's brilliant! Fabulous job BTW!
ReplyDeletewear it.......it is the person reading it not the person wearing it.

I think it is great, I would wear it. It should be fun for you to watch when people are talking to you and they start reading your shirt. What fun you will have.

Not being a fan of collars in general, I wouldn't have added it. But just having "garbage" in clear view...I'd wear it all the time to see if anyone notices...or better yet...comments. Reminds me of my "Office Bimbo Barbie" costume one Halloween. Details upon request.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it. It's special. Watch the smile on people's faces when they notice it.
ReplyDeleteI love it I would wear it :-)))))
ReplyDeletePriceless, Esther--talk about *happy* accidents!
ReplyDeleteThink about what you can say when people mention, "You know, your collar..."! (And then there´ll be someone who pretends *not* to have noticed. :o))
Definitely something to smile about, you look awesome --more happy sewing and hugs!

Definitely wear it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the grin on my face.
I think it looks good! If anyone says anything just laugh !
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative way to enhance a top! I would wear it proudly!
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful! I might not wear it to a wedding or an awards ceremony but alost anywhere else, it would make me smile.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the others, definitely you should wear it and watch the reactions :)
ReplyDeleteI like how the back says guaranteed for all on the back and comes around to the garbage.
ReplyDeleteI say wear it and have fun with it!
Yes, it made me laugh right out loud! My husband came in wondering what I was laughing at. :)). You did a lovely job - wear it and make people smile - IF they even notice!! ;)
ReplyDeleteKirsten
I think it is great, definitely wear it. Did you know that Garbage is the name of a group who sang the theme tune to 'The World is not enough' one of the James Bond films. Linda
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you think it is funny but I really had to laugh out loud here!!I think it is wearable though. The fun part will be to see if people actually read the text and how they will react!!

Isn't that what applique is for?
ReplyDeleteLOL! That is so funny!
ReplyDeleteCan you remove the collar, turn it around and have it be on the underside of the collar where it is less likely to be seen?

I think it's a good conversation starter--just be careful where you wear it!
ReplyDeleteLOL, it's that you point it out...
ReplyDeleteMay be a nice pin or button to hide it if it bothers you. I think it's a beautiful black and white combination!

ReplyDeleteActually, I love it (although it's the serendipity that makes it endearing).
ReplyDeleteSince I'm headed back to school next week, I'd love to wear it and then just silently tap the word when some kid presents garbage instead of quality work--with a smile, of course! In fact, I can envision a lot of situations where that might work.
It made me smile! Wear it, with a smile, and if people notice, you have something to laugh about. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes it is wearable, funny too, I like it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous and it would be awful to have to take it out and redo (but I might if I really didn't like it there). I guess it could be a conversation starter. Thanks for hosting WOW.
ReplyDeleteWhat a laugh ! It will be a wonderful conversation starter everywhere you go :)

I love the collar!! Please don't change it. What a wonderful accident - it's just good fun! Priceless!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog via the link party. I linked, but I can tell I'm way out of my league here! Looking forward to spending time exploring your blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the newspaper fabric, but the word 'garbage' so near to my face would bother me also. I usually make those kind of mistakes.
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun, can't worry about silly words!
