WOW: The Changing of the Quilts

WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays

I like to rotate my quilts at least one a year, sometime more depending on my mood! It's amazing how a quilt can change the feel of a room.

With the current heatwave, I've seen enough red which is what I themed my living room décor on (left) over winter. This is my before shot, it's messy, but you can see the quilt I'm talking about!

I love my warm red quilt and matching cushions in winter when it brightens and warms the room instantly - but it's time for a cool toned quilt to calm the room right down...

I started out by thinking I could do the quilt change myself,  but after a few dizzy moments on a chair, realised I should leave it to my DH! For some reason I always think it will be a quick and easy change, but there's always something extra to do..

And now that I'm happy with my Nightshade room, the kitchen entry quilt doesn't work anymore,
so I'll be changing it over today, as you can see below I've taken Peony Pride down and am thinking seriously about sunshine and shadow...but the rod is too long. I'll let you know how I go...

How do you use your quilts?
On beds? On walls? Both? I'd love to know...

What's Your WOW ?

  6. Thanks for such an interesting post. Your quilts are so lovely and really make the room shine. While I do use quilts on beds it is usually folded at the end of the bed over a solid spread or duvet. I do love quilts on my walls though where I think the fine detail can be better seen and appreciated. As a result I usually work on things that look better with my living space decor than my bedrooms amd they end up on walls. Over the back of couches and folded on shelves.

  7. HI Esther,
I love your purple quilt. Is it pieced or painted?
I use my quilts all over the house-on beds, walls, sofas etc. Love to see them being used.

  10. What a gorgeous quilt! I'd want to have it light up the room, too. I have small quilts on the walls around my sewing room, and other quilts to snuggle with.

  11. Your quilts are so beautiful, especially the one you just hung in your living room! My quilts are mostly on the walls, some are lap quilts on sofas of friends and relatives :)

  13. awesome!
We won a signature memory quilt in the church raffle but it's been folded up on the other computer desk for months now. I don't have a wall large enough to hang it.

  14. Awesome, what a room changer! Great idea to hang them this way. So far I've only made smaller wallpieces. Great to see so many different lovely projects in the linky party. I'm so glad you offer this opportunity every week!

  15. I like how you decorate. You have some gorgeous quilts.
My quilts decorate beds, not walls. But I might see a change in my future.

    Linking up for first time.
