I simply embroidered the little flowers around a small flower print and I am thinking about embroidering my stems when I get to the vases too. I'm actually in two minds whether I will or won't. I think it would match the image in the book if I did (in the published image, its clear that the vines are very thin) - but I have seen some real beauties in fabric over in my Yahoo Bom Group... and that is how I made the pattern. Perhaps I will make one with stitch lines and the other with fabrics as the pattern indicates. Although I am not sure yet, I do know better than to plan ahead: I'm sure this quilt will let me know when I get to that point! It has with everything else!
This centre is going to be such a joy to finish, at times like this I wonder if a third LE would be so impossibly difficult to fit in?
Just kidding.
Love the fabrics you have chosen. I am still choosing.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it!!
ReplyDeletelove the fabrics that you are working with - and making two of them! I know there are several others that are making two color ways - one will be as much as I can handle :)
ReplyDeleteWell, thank goodness you're just kidding! Look at those perfect points! Look at that workmanship! I was proud to just sew a bunch of squares together. WTG! Your work rocks! XO
ReplyDeleteLook at your perfect points! They are amazing. This will be a beautiful quilt, Esther.
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy centre is just beautiful, love it! But to do two, well one is definitely enough for me as I seem to be spending hours and hours stitching on your lovely pattern. Thank you for all your hard work, it is much appreciated. Celia in England
ReplyDeleteLove it love your fabrics it will be a stunner !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you are working with, the colors and patterns are
ReplyDeletefabulous, but to decide to make two quilts you are an amazing lady, I thank you for sharing your talent,
Cheers Jenny
Esther, this is breathtaking! Can I ask a question about your appliqué methods? I'm still a beginner and I was wondering about what appears to be penciled in markings for applique and or embroidery on the right side of your background fabric. Is that for positioning your appliqué shapes without using a light box or vinyl overlay, as I've seen in other tutorials? You mentioned that you are doing needle turn appliqué for your points. Do you still trace the outline of your shapes on your appliqué fabric before stitching? And one more question -- do you prewash and/or starch your appliqué fabrics? I prewashed but did not starch my firs attempt at a needle turned pointy petal shape and was dismayed by what seems to be distortion/stretching at the point due to bias edges. I traced and pinned it so carefully, too! I hope someday I'll be able to tackle a project like the one you're working on. Gorgeous! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, this looks so fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing way to quilt. I've never seen anything like it. I could really get into this type of quilting. I'll have to come back and read more posts about this. Thanks for party linking. :)
