'Little Hazel' 62 x 62" |
Didn't 2015 just fly by? This year is going to be the busiest yet, BOM wise. I have several lined up and during the week ahead, I'll be mapping out when they will be released throughout the year. Some will be BOMs, others will be complete patterns released as a one-off. Make sure you're a member of my Yahoo BOM Group - that way you won't miss out on any free gorgeous patterns that are coming!
Here's the first BOM for 2016: Hazel is a pieced BOM which takes me down winding rivers and woodlands. Here is a quilt full of passages, connections and returning to centre - a nice reminder of life's turns and returns.
There are 2 x size options: the full size 'Hazel' BOM at 88x105" and 'Little Hazel' 62 x 62"

But, I couldn't help playing around with the complete opposite of my original idea and colouring it in with striking vibrant primaries of yellow, blue and red. Both are different quilts that evoke completely different moods and I must admit, they both work in their own way. This is a great satisfaction for me, it means that the pattern lends itself to a whole range of 'styles' when it comes to choosing fabrics and this versatility means everything when you're deciding on a new quilt.
I'm really excited about releasing this BOM. I've been meaning to release a pieced BOM for a while now and I'm glad it's actually happening. I already love Hazel and I hope you will too.
For my fellow applique lovers, yes there is an applique BOM coming, I'm currently deciding which one to release :)
Hazel and Little Hazel will be released on January 15th over in my Yahoo BOM Group.
Membership is and always will be free.
I like Hazel.......the big one ;-)))))
ReplyDeleteThank you Esther
Esther, Hazel and Little Hazel are just beautiful! I can see already that you're going to be challenging my skills with the curves, and I look forward to your excellent instruction. Thank you for your amazing generosity in sharing these beautiful patterns with us.
ReplyDeleteLove it; having fun trying to work out how you made the blocks up, I love doing this its like doing a jigsaw puzzle. Many many thanks for a lovely new BOM Esther Cheers Glenda
ReplyDeleteThe pattern looks complicated, but it really isn't - it's all in the blocks that create the 'look' without the hard work :)
Deletethanks a million Esther for yet a nother beautiful quilt!!
ReplyDeleteEsther, Hazel and Little Hazel are just beautiful!Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this one and hurricane hazel it is, because it will be the big one!
ReplyDeleteI love your design. I like your original fabric choice the best. I am thinking about civil war prints, but not sure yet. I am getting excited about this! Thank you,
ReplyDeleteThat would be a stunner..
DeleteAre the blocks the same size so If I start with little Hazel I can switch to Hazel if time allows? This pattern is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are the same size but Hazel is diagonal and Little Hazel is horizontal so you can't 'continue on into the Hazel quilt' after making the Little Hazel version - they are two separate quilts and Little Hazel is ideal for beginners who can't handle diagonal blocks or just don't need a large quilt.
DeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quilt! I'm so excited to start it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Both quilts are gorgeous. I might start the little Hazel. Thanks for sharing the patterns.
