WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays
I'm relieved to have found my original Nelke notes during this bog clean up and that means I can finally update the pattern as soon as I get a chance. I've received queries about Nelke and also have applique changes that I added afterwards as well as some border confusion which I couldn't deal with because I didn't know where I'd filed it! I did have it, but then I put it somewhere after I'd made some notes. And then I forgot about it. Oh well I'm getting there.
Luckily I found my other patterns at the same time too. You see, I have a new filing system where I catalog all my work to store it. This allows me to move on. The problem is, when I moved house 4 years ago now, I mixed up all my files and then just stashed new files wherever. I knew it would somehow sort itself all out one day and that day has finally arrived. Phew! I also found my completed Peony Pride pattern files and print outs (why did I ever stash that away??) along with my entire Vase series of wall hangings. It's been quite a treasure trove!
I'm looking forward to a week of organizing myself and that means getting almost finished patterns finished and clearing the decks for a month of wedding dress focus.
What's Your WOW?
Happy Wednesday, Ethel! Doesn't it feel great to get organized? I'm glad you found your misplaced patterns. I spent some time last week going through a whole storage bucket full of articles and patterns I'd torn out and saved from magazines over the past decade or so. I found that many of the things I was excited about years ago now look boring, or I would not need a pattern for them anymore so I recycled those. But some of the others that were too difficult when I first saw them, I think I'm ready to attempt them now! Just need to wrap up a UFO or two before diving into a new project.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca, yes I love this feeling of getting organised, I feel like a whole weight has lifted off my shoulders, it's wonderful. And funnily enough, I had hundreds of magazines - literally- which I gladly gave away during my last clear out. Tastes really do change, I don't know why I was holding on to them. Tidy and organised is good. Now, I just need to stick with it....
DeleteIt is amazing how things just disappear and then reappear....
ReplyDeleteIsn't it??!
DeleteI too have many patterns put aside over the years - not like you making your own designs but those torn out of magazines and such - like Rebeca some I thought I couldn't do I know could and others not interested in.
ReplyDeleteKaren I do this with recipes and 'ideas' and whatnot and the things I find that I have kept from magazine would be a hilarious compilation - what was I thinking?
DeleteI'm so happy you have found your patterns. In particular, Nelke. I am so close to having the center medallion stitched down. Having your updates will be so helpful as I move this project along. It is turning out amazing so far. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I know some quilters are patiently waiting for the update so I better get a shuffle on...I keep meaning to do it and then set it aside, it's been 6 months now for goodness sakes!
DeleteReading about magazines!!!!! I have 100s of quilting mags upstairs, its really a fire hazard so this week end Im hoping to clean them out. Ones that are around 20 years old have some wonderful tips in them for start quilters. I just hope our local quilt shop will take them and pass them on. Was thrilled to see you had found those lovely designs Esther, I hope we see one soon LOL Cheers Glenda
ReplyDeleteGlenda I took a whole stack to several Op Shops and they begged me NOT to leave them, they are inundated with them - I think all the quilters were clearing out their mags at the same time :)!! I ended up giving them to my sewing circle of beginners and they loved them and also took them to redistribute among themselves and their other groups and I'm glad, I didn't need them.
DeleteEsther, I tell people that when I put something in a safe place, I now need to label it "safe place" so I can remember!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found your WIPs and patterns! I'm sure we'll all benefit from many of them. :)
we're on the same wavelength my friend. I am in the studio today, clearing out, sorting, trying to find things and places for things. LeeAnna
