WOW: Phew!

WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays
Phew, it's over! Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas but when it's scorching hot and there's so much going on, it's easy to lose track of things - like time for instance. I had no idea it was Wednesday today. I only just realized a few moments before blogging this post which is why it's so late. Perhaps I shouldn't admit that I've lost track of the days, but it's true.

How was your Christmas?

Ours was hot. We had turkey and were hoping right until the last minute to do everything inside, but a forecast of 36c meant that we decided to cook everything outside on the BBQ. It was the only way to go. In my household, Christmas is always hectic, for right after the day itself it's straight into preparations for my youngest DD's birthday and it's a super busy time all round. The stinking heat just makes everything seem harder. Mind you, we have air conditioning so I shouldn't complain, but we do all feel fatigued and I can't wait for this hot spell to pass.

Hope you're all having a beautifully calm, family focused break. As for me, I'm grateful that my DH stocked up well before Christmas which means we don't have to venture out into the crazy sales and rush that's going on right now.

It's the last Wednesday for the year!
What are you up to today?

  2. Ah.....I"ve got a day after Christmas baby too (age 34 this year) Though I don't have to contend with oppressive heat.....too busy chopping ice in the driveway so the kiddo's don't bust their tailbone coming up to the door. Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday!

  4. we had a warm couple of days after Christmas and had the windows open - that doesn't usually happen here. Sounds like you had a good day even with your high heat.

  5. I can't imagine the heat for the holidays. Here in the Midwest of USA, we have cold and snow. And although today we don't have the negative numbers ( Fahrenheit), we did last week.I love seeing your traditional foods.

  7. Today is a family portrait...at the Art museum gardens... first time done with the present generations. Everyone one has their idea of what black and blue means. Hopefully the photographer will be able to pull it all together. And after this..... the holiday is OVER as far as I am concern. It has been a wonderful week but the three weeks before were killers to get enough finished... I never get it ALL finished. Interesting that so many of our generation are tired, fatigued, etc.

  8. Happy Christmas and New Year. I don't know what I would do if it were hot on Christmas. It was snowing and blowing here in Idaho, about a foot to 15 inches. Only one of the eight people we invited could get here, and my brother got snowed in here and stayed the night. It was a small party after all, but we had fun anyway. Have a wonderful new year!
